Mike’s Vlog, Ep Zer0 “China Prep”

Michael Shaw grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii, but has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than fifteen years. He was fortunate to grow up around artists, craftspeople, and innovators who taught him to be a lifelong learner and test the limits of what was possible. As a result, Michael has learned a great variety of skills in his career working as a manager, marketer, writer, designer, videographer, stock trader, restaurant worker, and student.

As part of his drive for diverse knowledge, he keeps up on the latest tech and world events, and enjoys games, literature, and movies alike. He builds his own computers and always has a number of home projects to tinker on or fix, in addition to various art projects like his novel.

Michael will be visiting Shenzhen starting in 2018 as part of the collaboration between Makefashion Edu and Cultivative.org to empower creative people all around the world to improve their lives and their communities through arts, science, and technology.

He wants to amplify the message of the maker community with social media, video, marketing, and events. He believes that together, we can inspire people to build, improve, and create the culture, art, and technology of their dreams.

How-to videos often come from the perspective of an expert showing off their craft; this video is more of a how-to on how to approach a new skill, how to be flexible, how to fail, and how to get help, because I am NO expert woodworker.
