R.ED PROGRAM

SteamHead Resident Educators are part of our community! We invite educators from out of town and country to be a guest inside our makerspace, in our Resident Room!

Our aim is to aid Maker Embedded learning programs through cultural exchange, bringing international makers to China and establishing lasting connections between our residents and our city’s educational institutions.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Our popular Shenzhen location is currently suspended. We ask that you perform some community service, either volunteer for the makerspace, or projects in the makerspace, or for the anywhere local community. It doesn’t have to be related to SteamHead! Helping the community of Shenzhen grow is all we ask!

1 to 5 weeks stay

Education-related applicants qualify

Resident Room is free of rent, but we ask for 15 rmb per day to help with electricity, water, and weekly cleaning fees (winter can be cheaper, no AC needed!)

R.ED Volunteer Opportunities

SteamHead R.ED embeds Maker Education and international cultural exchanges into Shenzhen educational experiences. Basically, we love doing it so we donate time and space in order to help educators and students get together!

School Workshops

Residents are placed in local schools to either run their own workshop, or participate in the school’s Maker Workshops. This is a great way to connect to with students in Shenzhen directly, and have true cross cultural experiences!

Makerspace Workshops

Students of all ages are invited to our space to participate in workshops that the resident designs! These can be free or with a material fee, and are a great way for residents to see their Maker Ed projects being battle tested!

Community Presentations

Residents present to the community in a variety of forums! SteamHead sets up talks with local entrepreneurial and maker groups in Shenzhen, and gives the international resident instant access to the Shenzhen Maker community.
