SteamHead Open Badges

Open Badges help to roadmap and assess projects that prioritize real world problems, design thinking, and hand-on activities.

The Open Badges project shares SteamHead’s teaching tools as an Open Source educational research. They are based on the Open Badges standards developed by Mozilla and the McArthure Foundation.

Heart: Meaningful Goals

“As a human-centered designer you need to understand the people for whom you are designing. The problems you are trying to solve are rarely your own—they are those of particular users; in order to design for your users, you must build empathy for who they are and what is important to them. ” -Stanford d.school

Head: Design Planning

Planning is the ability to represent your idea with symbols. Images, drawings, text, numbers – humans deal with much more than physical objects and perceptions of the world. They also deal in language. The ability to convey an idea apart from it’s body or it’s intent.

Hand: Prototyping

Real objects – handcrafted, machine made, electronic circuits. Physical Design deals with the ability to prototype your design using many methods. A designer must explore a wide variety of these skills in order to understand the abilities and constraints of each of them.
